Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used for centuries in China in
human and veterinary medicine. In Central Europe,
its popularity has grown in the last few decades,
and also in Finland people have become more aware of it.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture uses a variety of mechanisms. Simply said,
it works through the nerves routes to the different
internal organs, muscles, bones, joints, etc.
The nerves are stimulated at specific points using
needles or laser.
In the so-called trigger accupuncture, a tense muscle is
directly relaxed by applying needles. The use of trigger
therapy follows more the western way of thinking, where
the symptom is treated directly. In Chinese medicine,
the problem points are often found in different locations
than the sypmtoms.
How to the animals respond to the treatment?
Animals rarely resist against the therapy because the
needles are very thin and do not cause pain. In addition,
endorphines are released, which normally cause the
animal to relax. Many even enjoy it.
When can acupuncture be used?
Typical patients are those pets with
muscular and skeletal diseases. Acupuncture is understood mainly
to address problems with hip, elbow, back, and neck.
It can also be applied in case of malfunctions of other systems
such as asthma, difficult false pregnancies, and prostate problems.
